Wine Country; Hearst Castle; Elephant Seals

On our drive to Morro Bay, California, it was obvious we were in wine country again.   Acres and acres of vegetable farming was replaced by grape vineyards.

We toured the Eberle Wine Caves and tasted wine, again!  Tough job!  They store and age their wine in a special man-made cave that has 17,000 sq. feet, 24 feet below grade.  It’s earthquake proof!

They hold wedding receptions and other functions in their cave.

Here they are aerating the grape juice before they put it into barrels.

The next tour was of the Hearst Castle.  William Randolph Hearst was a magazine, newspaper and movie mogul.  This house is pretty awesome.   Famous movie stars used to spend time there being wined and dined!  It was a very drizzly, wet, foggy day when we were there.

One odd thing Hearst had was a collection of different wild animals.  Some of them have survived several generations.   As these zebras have…!!!

We took a drive along Highway 1.  We walked some beaches, saw elephant seals, had lunch…  As usual, the scenery was awesome!
